Hammer Coral (Euphyllia sp.)

The MIMF Hammer Coral is a branching large polyp stony coral. The name is derived from the hammer shape of the tentacles that protrude far from its skeleton. These large fleshy polyps sway back and forth passively with the water current and provide great movement to the home aquarium. Depending on the type of lighting used, this coral can take on a pinkish color. Similar to other Euphylliids in terms of temperament, the Hammer Coral can be aggressive with long flowing sweeper tentacles. This strain has been cultured for years making the transition into a home aquarium much easier than a wild collected colony.
