Ant Insignis (Acropora insignis) comes from Ant Atoll, a pristine uninhabited atoll near Pohnpei in the Caroline Islands. Â It is abundant on the leeward reef flats of the atoll down to about 10 ft in depth. Â Fragments are cultured in ocean cages at a depth of 10-20 Â feet in Pohnpei’s protected lagoon.
Be sure to check out the images showing the natural coloration of this coral. Â The fragment in the main photo has been grown under T5 lights for several weeks which causes a violet color to develop that is not seen in the wild.
